Sally Peart has been appointed as the Predator Free Dunedin Trust’s new Independent Chair.

Sally is a commercial and intellectual property lawyer with Marks and Worths. Having lived on the Otago Peninsula with her family for the past 20 years, she is excited to be involved with the vision for a Predator Free Dunedin and New Zealand by 2050.

“We have really noticed the increase in birds in our neighbourhood over the past few years and I look forward to working with the Trust and our Delivery Partners to keep that going.”

As a lawyer, Sally bring a wide range of skills to the Trust, including contract work and strategic management. She has a passion for innovation and the benefits it can have for a project like Predator Free Dunedin, as well as strong understanding of how collaborative models can be used effectively to benefit organisations.

“I think there are some really exciting times ahead of us. Raising the profile of our work is a priority for me as community engagement is an important aspect of the project. I think it will get some real traction in terms of helping with funding efforts and getting people to engage with all the wonderful intiatives happening across Dunedin.”

Sally takes over from outgoing Chair Jinty MacTavish who stepped down in 2021 after two years on the Trust.

“I want to acknowledge the work that Jinty has done. I have been really impressed over the past month as I shadowed her at the organisation, especially the focus she brings to baord meetings and her strategy as a whole. I know I have some big shoes to fill!”

Sally began her term at the Predator Free Dunedin Annual General Meeting in December 2021.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting all the people involved with the project and seeing what’s happening on the ground so I can help further those efforts.”
